Blank Page: About Me

NICE TO MEET YOU

A little about me: I’m an early childhood educator and musician. I am currently living in Los Angeles but was born in Mexico and moved around quite a bit growing up, instilling in me a love for language, music, people, and beginnings.

I’m a firm believer in the importance of play and joy in learning. I have seen how nurturing curiosity, using storytelling and letting questions take the lead can create stronger connections and powerful waves of learning. I also believe that academic education can and should hold hands with empathy, compassion and a willingness to imagine.

Because of this last part, I know early learners have a wealth of tools already at their fingertips. Given the space, time and surrounded by those who believe in the power of a song, painting, experiment and them, there are no limits to where their educational journeys can take them.

My teaching practice uses an engaging curriculum to stoke the fire of curiosity and encourage creativity. I aim to inspire compassion, activism & a love for learning that continues beyond the four walls of the classroom.

I believe that an educator's role is to guide students through their learning and cultivate their unique strengths all while staying open to adaptation and feedback. I think there's always room for mess and joy in the classroom, that we grow from our mistakes, and that we are never done learning.

I graduated from the University of Southern California’s Master of Arts in Teaching focusing on Early Childhood Education and my time with the program gave me the resources and strategies necessary to meet the needs of diverse learners and explore the intersection of technology, arts and learning. Additionally, I spent my undergraduate years learning about performance and storytelling through theatre studies at Emerson College which has helped me lay a framework of emotional expression that I use in all of my classrooms.
